To improve the well-being and education of deserving children and youth

Recent Activity

  • 2023

    • Chartered 3 Boy Scouts of America troops.

    • Underwrote the District Recognition Dinner honoring Eagle and Summit Scouts.

    • Purchased 5 Little Free Library kits for an Eagle Scout project and partially funded another Eagle Scout project.

    • Stocked books for elementary-age students in several Little Free Libraries.

    • Funded summer camp for 3 youth.

    • Sent a student, parent, and teacher from Weaver Elementary School’s Early Childhood Special Education Program to Morgan’s Wonderland in San Antonio, a completely wheelchair-accessible theme park.

    • Awarded academic and need-based scholarships to Duck Creek Eagle and Summit Award Scouts. These youth attended Texas A&M University, University of Texas at Austin, and Baylor University.

  • 2022

    • Funded summer camp for 2 youth.

    • Underwrote the District Recognition Dinner honoring Eagle and Summit Scouts.

    • Awarded academic and need-based scholarships to Duck Creek Eagle and Summit Award Scouts. These youth attended Texas A&M University, University of Texas at Austin, and Southern Methodist University.

    • Sent a student, parent, and teacher from Weaver Elementary School’s Early Childhood Special Education Program to Morgan’s Wonderland in San Antonio, a completely wheelchair-accessible theme park.

  • 2021

    • Funded summer camp for 2 youth.

    • Awarded an academic and need-based scholarship to two Eagle Scouts from Duck Creek District—one youth at the University of Houston and one at Dallas College.

    • Underwrote a Bike Rodeo for local elementary students.

    • Funded an Eagle Scout Service Project to provide backpacks with hygiene items for the Good Samaritans of Garland.

    • Funded a teacher appreciation event at a local high school.

    • Supported the formation and chartering of a Sea Scout Ship in Duck Creek District.

  • 2020

    • Awarded an academic and need-based college scholarship to two Eagle Scouts from Duck Creek District—one to the University of North Florida and one to University of Texas at San Antonio.

    • Awarded a scholarship for an outstanding Eagle Scout Service Project. This youth coordinated fifty volunteers to create an outdoor learning environment at a local school.

    • Funded the development of a sensory garden for an Eagle Scout Service Project at the Achievement Center of Texas.

  • 2019

    • Awarded a scholarship for academics and need plus an Outstanding Eagle Scout Service Project to an Eagle Scout from Duck Creek District.

    • Sent three youth to summer camp.

  • 2018

    • Supported an Eagle Scout project from Troop 1978: Enlarged and renovated playground at Cornerstone United Methodist Church.

    • Funded camperships for 20 scouts to attend summer camp.

    • Awarded three scholarships to Garland-area youth: two Eagle Scouts from Duck Creek

    • Sent a preschool student and parent from Weaver Elementary's Preschool Program for Children with Disabilities (PPCD) to Morgan's Wonderland in San Antonio, a completely wheelchair-accessible theme park.

    • Supported an Eagle Scout Project from Troop 1978: installing a prayer garden/meeting area at Cornerstone United Methodist Church.

College Scholarship for Scouts

The Rust Powers Foundation offers a college scholarship for the year's class of Eagle Scouts, Venturing Summit Award, or Sea Scouts Quartermaster recipients in BSA's Duck Creek District of Circle Ten Council. High school seniors and college students are eligible. Younger recipients should apply when they are high school seniors.

The Foundation also will present a scholarship for an outstanding Eagle Scout, Summit Award, or Quartermaster service project. All submissions are due in full to the Foundation's address on the application by February 1 each year.
